COLUMN COLLECTION

Field studies made by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute show that 20% of the total collected municipal waste is functional. Supported by Sustainable Business Hub and the waste management companies SYSAV and VA SYD, this project turns perceived trash into resource. The side table is made entirely of materials from the waste center and is designed to easily be disassembled. The table leg consists of welded steel pipes from common household products like curtain poles and ironing boards. The table top is made of tiles held together by a second layer of tiles in a geometric formation. Due to the constant flow of those resources at the waste centers, the concept enables both production volume and different constellations and dimensions of tables. The aesthetics are inspired by ancient greek columns structure, and expresses the meeting between linear and circular systems.

The Column Collection has been exhibited in various locations around Malmö, and will be featured during Southern Sweden Design Days 2020.
